SM Entertainment is Wrapped up in Plagiarism Controversy for aespa's Upcoming MV for 'Black Mamba,' Original Artist Responds
- 16 Nov, 2020
Fans have found similarities between the MV and the original artist's works.
On November 16th, SM Entertainment finally released the highly-anticipated teaser for aespa's debut song 'Black Mamba.' Upon the release, the teaser has made headlines and trended on social media. A lot of fans have expressed their excitement about the song and the concept of the music video.
However, a couple of hours later, fans found that the visual effects for the MV actually look similar to artworks by a German visual artist named Timo Helgert. It was the effect of a giant snake on the train full of flowers.

Timo Helgert posted similar works earlier this year on his Instagram. After a lot of fans had contacted him for clarification, Timo Helgert revealed via Instagram story, "I received many messages. They didn't ask me and I didn't work on it. Seems like they copied it."
